Three-wicket hauls from pace bowlers Curtly Ambrose and Anderson Cummins before Openers Desmond Haynes' unbeaten half-century and Brian Lara's superb unbeaten 86 steers to West Indies' record ten-wicket victory over South Africa and took an unassailable 2-0 lead to seal the series in a one-sided game of the second ODI.

  • The ten-wicket win is West Indies' fifth and West Indies' largest victory by terms of wickets remaining against South Africa in One-day internationals.
  • This is the first ten-wicket defeat for South Africa in ODIs.
  • 154* : Desmond Haynes and Brian Lara set up the record first-wicket partnership for West Indies against South Africa in One-day international, previously held by the 32-run stand between these same pair at Kingston earlier in this series' opening game and the West Indies' ninth highest opening stand in ODIs.

South Africa bundled out for 152 in 43.4 overs with top scorer by Jonty Rhodes cracked a 45 off 71-balls including 5-fours.

Hansie Cronje struck 22 off 30-balls including 4-fours and Adrian Kuiper scored 19 off consuming 64-balls without a boundary.

West Indies best bowler by Curtly Ambrose picked up 3-wickets for 24-runs in 7.4-overs, Anderson Cummins captured three-wickets for 40-runs in 9-overs and Roger Harper took one-wicket.

West Indies chase down the target of 153, finishing at 154 for without lost a wicket in 25.5 overs with top scorer by Brian Lara cracked a unbeaten 86 off 91-balls and Desmond Haynes hit a unbeaten 59 off 71-balls included 7-fours & a six.

Brian Lara named Player of the match for his match-winning superb unbeaten 86 off facing 91-balls including 13-fours & 2-sixes.
