Manoj Prabhakar gave a sparkling all-round display, including his career-best one-day bowling figures, to spur India to victory in the second limited-overs cricket match against Sri Lanka.

Prabhakar took five for 35 at medium pace and then opened the batting and hit 39 as India won by seven wickets to take a winning 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Sri Lanka recovered from 4-31 to make 7-226 for seven in 50 overs, but India marched home at 3-227 with 10 balls to spare.

The touring team was rescued by compelling 98 from captain Arjuna, Ranatunga, who came in at 3-17 and carried the attack to the Indian bowlers, thrashing them to all parts of the ground in his 115-ball innings.

Ranatunga fell when he edged an out-swinger from Prabhakar to wicket-keeper Nayan Mongia, who dived to his left to take the catch. But Prabhakar did the early damage, first having Anura Gunawardhane caught by Mongia for two in the third over.
