England, offered a lifeline from above, slipped slowly and sadly to another depressing cricket defeat.
England heaven-sent opportunity to strike back at the West Indies when rain reduced the significance of Desmond Haynes's century, but it failed to grasp the chance, lost its fourth consecutive match and surrendered the one-day international series in the process.
was given a with Haynes to the fore, England's bowlers - all bar Angus Fraser were caned for the second time this week as West Indies rattled up 7-265 in 45.4 overs.
It was not quite as bad as Wednesday's humiliation in St Vincent but it might have been if two breaks for rain had not saved the tourists from another 26 balls of punishment.
From facing a victory target near the 300 mark, England were presented with a more manageable challenge of 209 off 36 overs once umpires Steve Bucknor and Clyde Cumberbatch had done their recalculation sums, but even that proved out of reach as spinner Roger Harper ripped the heart our of a once promising reply by taking four quick wickets.
From 2-110 and almost up with the rate, England slumped to 6-145 as Harper removed Robin Smith, Graeme Hick, Matthew Maynard and Chris Lewis in consecutive overs.
