Australia A scored 264-5 in 50 overs with top scorer by Greg Blewett cracked a 113 off 133-balls including 8-fours, Michael Bevan struck 105 off 102-balls included 6-fours and Justin Langer hit 16 off 12-balls included 2-fours.

England best bowler by Chris Lewis, Shaun Udal both took 2-wickets and one for Phil DeFreitas.

England scored 235-9 in the allotted 50 overs with top scorer by John Crawley cracked a 37 off 47-balls including 4-fours.

Graeme Hick hit 35 off 49-balls including 4-fours, Graham Thorpe scored 24 off 44-balls without a boundary, Steve Rhodes struck 23 off 29-balls contained 2-fours.

Chris Lewis hit a unbeaten 22 off 26-balls including a boundary, Mike Atherton struck 20 off 21-balls included 3-fours and Graham Gooch scored 17 off 40-balls contained 2-fours.

Australia A best bowler by Peter McIntyre picked up 3-wickets for 45-runs in 10-overs, Paul Reiffel, Merv Hughes both took 2-wickets and one for Shane George - Greg Blewett.

Greg Blewett named Player of the match for his superb batting performance to scored a 113-runs knocked off facing 133-balls including 8-fours.

Australia A youngsters Greg Blewett and Michael Bevan scored centuries to set up an all-Aussie World Series cricket pyjama party by humbling England in a thriller at the SCG.

Australia A won by 29 runs but, with run rate playing a key. England was only two runs away from making the finals when it responded to 5-264 with 9-235.

Chris Lewis scored an unbeaten 22 to almost sneak England in, but with 10 needed off the final two overs to reach the assigned 237, South Australian Shane George bowled four dot balls in succession to close out the second-last over.

Shaun Udal fell lbw to the fourth last ball of the match from Paul Reiffel with five runs needed, and last man Angus Fraser could manage only a single when he required three off the last ball.

Australia A deserved its place, and the joyful scenes at the finish in front of 38,152 fans, after making all the running in this crucial final qualifying game.
