  • Sri Lanka's 103-run win was their sixth largest victory by terms of runs in one-day international and It is their second biggest win by terms-of-runs against Bangladesh in ODIs after their 107-run win at Sharjah in the 1995 Asia Cup.
  • Sanath Jayasuriya became the first Sri Lankan batsman to score a century against Bangladesh in ODI cricket history.
  • Sanath Jayasuriya's 108 was his fifth highest score for Sri Lanka in one-day international and the highest-score by an Sri Lankan batsman against Bangladesh in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 89 held by Aravinda de Silva at Kolkata in the 1990-91 Asia Cup.

Sri Lanka scored 296-4 in the allotted 46 overs - match reduced from 50 to 46-overs per a side because of damp ground from rain - with top scorer by Sanath Jayasuriya hammered a 108 off 83-balls - which was his 5th ODI hundred and his first century against Bangladesh in ODIs.

Marvan Atapattu struck 60 off 74-balls including 7-fours, Arjuna Ranatunga hit a run-a-ball 51-runs included 6-fours, Roshan Mahanama cracked a unbeaten 39 off 42-balls included 2-fours & a six and Aravinda de Silva scored 15 off 19-balls contained a boundary.

Bangladesh best bowler by Minhajul Abedin and Sheikh Salahuddin both took 2-wickets.

Bangladesh scored 193-8 in the allotted 46 overs with top scorer by Naimur Rahman cracked a 47 off 85-balls including 5-fours.

Athar Ali Khan struck 42 off 58-balls including 5-fours & a six, Akram Khan cracked a 32 off 40-balls included 3-fours and Aminul Islam scored 29 off 47-balls contained a boundary.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Muttiah Muralitharan captured, Sajeewa de Silva, Upul Chandana and Aravinda de Silva each took one-wickets.

Sanath Jayasuriya named Player of the match for his scintillating batting performance to smashed a 108 off facing 83-balls including 14-fours & 3-sixes with strike rate of 130.12.
