The season will see the expansion of the league, with the addition of two new franchises (Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans). This will make it the second season to have ten teams, after the 2011 tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to start on 26th March 2022, and conclude with the final on 29th May 2022. The group stage of the tournament will be played entirely in the state of Maharashtra, with Mumbai and Pune hosting the matches. The full schedule of the IPL 2022 tournament was announced on 06th March 2022.
Gujarat Titans won by 7-wickets against Rajasthan Royals in the final, winning the their first IPL title and became the seventh team to clinch the IPL trophy.
